Welcome to Flame Arrow Publishing
You've found a home for stories that refuse to look away. We publish speculative fiction that confronts what's broken, celebrates what endures, and imagines futures worth fighting for. Hopepunk. Climate fiction. Queer fantasy. Bilingual voices. Stories of resilience, resistance, and rebirth. If you're tired of dystopias that end in despair, you're in the right place.
Who We Are
Flame Arrow Publishing is a bilingual Canadian indie press rooted in hope and resistance.
We believe stories can change the world. Not by pretending everything's fine, but by showing what's possible when people refuse to give up. Our books explore:
- Resilience in the face of collapse
- Resistance against systems that silence
- Rebirth when the old world fails
We publish in French and English, centering voices that imagine better futures without ignoring the hard truths of now.
If you enjoy bite-sized science fiction and glitching futures (Black Mirror, Ted Chiang)
Start with The Sky Didn’t Load Today and Other Glitches by Rich Larson (available now in English).
Thirty futures. One thousand words or less. Zero safety protocols.
Across 30 precision-crafted flash-fiction stories, Rich Larson explores unreliable realities, downloadable minds, rentable bodies, alien forests, deep-space comedy, and seaside horror. These brief, dazzling glimpses of tomorrow reveal the human heart behind the technology—and the beauty, loss, and resilience hidden inside fractured futures.
If You Love YA Dystopian (The Marrow Thieves, Under This Forgetful Sky)
Start with: Everclear by Jennifer DeLeskie (Coming Summer 2026)
A teenage girl ventures into the Northern Quebec wilderness to find her missing father and uncover the dangerous truths powerful forces tried to erase. Language, memory, and survival collide in a story about reclaiming what was stolen.
If You Crave Queer Urban Fantasy (The City We Became, Circe)
Start with: L'Égide by Véronique Reed (Coming Spring 2026, French)
Greek gods walk Montreal streets. A grieving bookseller and a restless paramedic join a secret organization to hunt a demigod through murders that echo ancient rituals. Love, myth, and noir collide.
If you enjoy queer historical romance, slow-burn love stories, and found family
Start with Mrs. Victoria Buys a Brothel by Talhà Briones (available in English).
In 1865, Victoria escapes an abusive marriage and finds refuge among the women of a Wyoming brothel. When they face eviction, she buys the establishment—and begins building an unexpected new life filled with friendship, resistance, humour, and the possibility of love.
Heartfelt, fiercely funny, and deeply romantic, this sweeping sapphic Western is about healing after abuse, women who refuse to disappear, and finding family and love where no one thought they could exist.
If You Want Nature-Based Fantasy (Earthsea, Naomi Novik)
Start with: Tonnerre-des-bois by Loui Beaulieu (Coming Spring 2026, French)
A young shaman steps into his calling in a world shaped by spirit animals, ancestral memory, and the living pulse of the forest. A coming-of-age story rooted in tradition, community, and the wild.
If You Love Oceanpunk & Hopeful Sci-Fi (Silo, The Last of Us)
Start with: Amaranth by David M. Snow (Available Now, English & French)
Underwater arks. Memory spheres. A society rebuilt after collapse. The Amaranth series explores what it means to survive, remember, and hope when the surface world is lost.
If You're Into Polyamory, Activism & Near-Future Resistance
Start with: Invisible Line series by Su J. Sokol (Available Now, English)
A family flees dystopian New York for Montreal. Their sequel follows queer activists navigating love, resistance, and chosen family in the near future. For readers who want hope grounded in struggle.

Where the Future Still Burns
Flames of Tomorrow is a free curated sampler of speculative short fiction shaped by hopepunk, climate futures, and acts of resistance, both quiet and bold. These stories do not save the world with spectacle. They stay with what survives after collapse, what endures through community, and what is rebuilt when people choose care over despair.
At Flame Arrow Publishing, we believe speculative fiction has a responsibility beyond entertainment. It can sharpen our moral courage. It can pull us back into the now. It can help us imagine futures rooted in resilience, solidarity, and stubborn hope.
